A new political platform, the Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA), has been unveiled with a promise to address Nigeria’s economic and security challenges through what it described as a clear ideological framework.

The party, in a statement signed by its National Chairman, Barr. Samuel M. Memeh, and National Publicity Secretary, Chris Mustapha Nwaokobia Jnr., said its formation was driven by the need to “rescue Nigeria from systemic failure, economic stagnation, and insecurity.”
According to the statement, the DLA is founded on the principles of Pan-Africanism, ethical leadership, scientific advancement, and people-centered governance, which it said would guide its policies and programmes.

    Economic direction

The party outlined plans to transition Nigeria from what it described as a consumption-based economy to a production- and innovation-driven system.
It stated that its economic priorities would include the promotion of industrialisation, support for local manufacturing, and increased investment in science, technology, and research.
The statement also emphasised the need to empower young Nigerians through enterprise and innovation as part of efforts to drive economic growth and job creation.

    Security, agriculture

On security, the party expressed concern over the destruction of farmlands and displacement of farmers in parts of the country, warning that the trend poses a threat to food security.

It called for immediate legislative measures to protect farming communities, alongside stronger regulation of cattle movement nationwide.

The DLA also advocated a transition to regulated ranching systems, stating that livestock business owners must take full responsibility for their operations.

    Call to Nigerians

The party urged Nigerians to support its vision, describing its emergence as a movement aimed at national renewal.

It called on citizens to participate actively in rebuilding the country, adding that membership is open to individuals who align with its ideology and policy direction.
“The responsibility to rebuild Nigeria lies with all of us,” the statement read.
